Mechanical Fitter (Lacatus)

About the role

We are hiring experienced Mechanical Fitters (Lacatus) to join our industrial execution team for the assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and metal structures in Romania. The role focuses on the precision fitting of components, reading technical blueprints, and ensuring structural integrity in commercial and industrial projects according to Romanian industrial standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and isometric sketches to plan the fitting and assembly sequence.
• Measure, cut, grind, and align metal parts and mechanical components for assembly.
• Assemble and install machinery, equipment, and structural metalwork using various fastening and joining techniques.
• Perform tack welding and basic metal fabrication to secure components before final welding.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures, ensuring all equipment is functioning at peak efficiency.
• Ensure neat and safe fitting practices according to technical specifications and international safety codes.

Industrial Fitting Scope & Tasks

• Structural Fitting: Assembly of steel frames, ladders, platforms, and heavy metal supports.
• Machinery Assembly: Fitting and alignment of gears, bearings, shafts, and industrial pumps.
• Metal Fabrication: Precise use of grinders, drills, oxy-acetylene torches, and hydraulic presses.
• Maintenance & Repair: Disassembling machinery for overhaul and replacing worn-out mechanical parts.

Qualifications & Skills

• ITI Certificate in Fitter Trade, Mechanical Trade, or equivalent vocational training – highly appreciated.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial fitting or as a “Lacatus” in large-scale projects.
• Strong ability to read and follow complex mechanical drawings and technical diagrams.
• Hands-on knowledge of metal properties, fitting tolerances, and safe industrial practices.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• High physical stamina for manual assembly and lifting.
• Willingness to relocate and work on-site in Romania.
• Basic English communication skills.
